Marketing & Strategy Director, Ancorra Environmental Services
Female Entrepreneurs Panel
Jennie Riding began her career in law, specialising in environmental and compliance, but she chose not to practice and went in to the private sector.
Working at a multinational waste management company, she was promoted to Operations Director and given a minor shareholding. When the business was sold to an American Corporation in 2009, Jennie took the opportunity to travel the world, where the idea of entering the hospitality industry was first formed.
Upon her return she set up home in Cumbria, and has since founded and co-founded three businesses: Ancorra Environmental Services, an industrial cleaning company based in Merseyside with nationwide coverage; The Lodges at Artlegarth, a luxury log cabin holiday let business, which was shortlisted for the best self-catering accommodation by Cumbria Tourism; and Happy Days, a spin-off events and experiences company.
A single mum to three young girls, Jennie still manages to find time to exercise, recently completing the Chicago marathon as part of her quest to run all six of the marathon majors, and also taking up triathlon. Jennie is passionate in championing women’s rights and equality, recently attending the Houses of Parliament as part of her voluntary work with the Federation of Small Businesses.
